Thanks Jane Bakewell and BVI Spring Regatta
A big thanks goes out to Jane Bakewell, a popular BVI resident and writer, who has led the 'Sailing towards Clean and Green' campaign, resulting in the BVI Spring regatta being the first to receive a Silver certificate from Sailors and the Sea, sponsors of the Clean Regattas Certification Program.
Discover the NEW Scrub Island Resort
Here's your chance, folks: Scrub Island Resort is inviting guests to be among the first to explore and discover the British Virgin Islands' newest luxury digs – with an exclusive pre-opening "Sneak Peek Bed & Breakfast Package." BVI Restaurant of the Week
Sand Box Seafood Grille & Bar on Prickly Pear Island, North Sound, near Virgin Gorda (284-495-9123 or call on VHF Channel 16). Check out this eatery for a killer grilled Mahi-mahi sandwich, or try their signature “Shrimp Prickly Pear.”
Villa of the Week: On the Rocks and with a Twist
On the Rocks is quite possibly the best beachside villa we here at Island Lowdown have ever had an opportunity to stumble upon. While we didn’t know about it when writing the book, we have since become this snazzy villa’s biggest fans from this point forward. Word came to us about this villa one sunny April afternoon while kicking back on Little Trunk Bay on Virgin Gorda. As we followed a small trail that snaked through the palms and boulders, who should appear but the owners of On the Rocks (and With a Twist).
Camping in BVI
The BVI is brimming with super fine campgrounds:
Brewer's Bay Campground: Located directly on the Ocean Coast's Brewer's Bay, this popular site offers a canopy of palms and almonds and sea grapes, along with a fine beach with primitive and rugged cliffs enclosing the bay and crashing surf. For long time fans of this camp site the beach bar and restaurant with local eats is a major attraction.
