Linnell Abbott

Linnell Abbott is the founder, publisher, and editor of The BVI Beacon. With a passion for recording -- and shaping -- BVI history, Linnell manages the territory's major and most popular newspaper. Under her guidance the paper has grown from 12 pages (black and white) to over 60 pages. She earned her degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and began managing the paper in 1984. Linnell has worked for a number of New York based newspapers and in public relations at Dow Jones and Co. publishers of the Wall Street Journal. She is a former member of the Society of Professional Journalists, a current board member of the St. George's Primary School, a vestry member of St. George's Episcopal Church, and a deputy chairperson of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission.
