Nature's Ingredients
Many of the best island recipes are inspired by the lush and tropical gardens that blanket BVI. For a real understanding of how the natural surroundings influence everything from BVI cooking to BVI culture, make
sure to explore the many national parks (many are accessible only by boat). Here are just a few of the many worth a visit:
Cam Bay National Park: Located on Great Camanoe, Cam Bay boasts a salt pond, migratory wading birds,
and endless tropical flora.
Diamond Cay: Located on Jost Van Dyke, this idyllic destination is lined with beaches, cliffs, pelicans, leatherback turtles, and a vibrant reef.
Gorda Peak (pictured above): Located on Virgin Gorda, this 265-acre national park is home to the island’s highest point of 1,370 feet. Explore this park for an endless variety of indigenous exotic plants and mahogany trees.
Prickly Pear National Park: Located on Prickly Pear Island, this 243-acre oasis boasts cacti-covered hills, white, black, and red mangroves, four salt ponds, and tamarind trees.
