Cuban Cigars in the BVI
For Cuban cigars in the islands you’ll want to head over to Little Denmark (284-494-2455) on Tortola. Duck into the room-size humidor and sample their extensive collection of Cohiba, Montocristo, Hoyo de Monterrey, Partagas, H. Upmann, and Romeo Y Julieta. While at Little Denmark, make sure to chat with its owner, Diana Bruce, a BVIslander with a long history in the business. In fact, Diana’s father opened a cigarette factory on picturesque Peter Island in the 1930s. Cuban cigars can also be purchased at such places as Bobby’s, Riteway, and One Mart in Road Town. On Virgin Gorda you’ll want to try the Tropical Gift Collections or the Caribbean Flavor Gift Shop. Many resorts, such as Katitche Point, also provide Cuban cigars for guests. As with any Cuban cigar purchase, there are many ways to tell if a box and the cigars are authentic – from the date codes and the bands to the smell of the tobacco and the color of the wrapper.
