British Virgin Islands

But What If I Want to Stay in BVI Longer?

If you wish to extend your stay, you have to apply for an extension from the Immigration Department in Road Town, Tortola or at the Government Administration Building in Virgin Gorda. Purchase of a property in the BVIs does not, in itself, establish resident status. You can get your hands on an ID card if you’re a “Non-Belonger’s Land Holder.” Such a license allows the holder to be granted leave to stay in the BVIs for a period of up to six months in any year. However, a “Certificate of Residence,” entitles the holder to remain in the BVIs for an indefinite period. You’ll want to check with the Immigration Department for information regarding residency.
