British Virgin Islands

Father Gibson

Father Gibson became the director of St. George’s Tortola in 1956, where he directed all of the Virgin Islands. He visited Virgin Gorda and other islands at the time once a month via whatever boat was available at the time. He tells stories of the motor breaking and one poor captain having to row him back to Road Town with one oar! Father Gibson is married to Alma, a beautiful companion that he met at St. George’s. Father Gibson is also a MBE or “Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire” and a canon of the Anglican Church.
